ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS TO
NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL

St. Petersburg, Florida

This massive project designed to give Northeast High School a completely new image will feature a new college campus style plaza. The predominant buildings are a new two story Classroom / Administration / Art and Music Building (82, 000 s.f.), renovated Gymnasium (27,220 s.f.), and Cafeteria Building ( 21,300 s.f. ). Additionally one of the critical aspects of this project was correction of site drainage. With the aid of computer model analysis our design team finally solved Northeast High Schools flooding problems.

The new Classroom / Administration Building has a dynamic Entry Mall which will act as a Focal Point/ Gateway to a new rejuvenated campus. This building includes, Administration Offices, Guidance Offices, and 30 varying types of Classrooms / Labs. Additionally there a new Music and Art Suite was added. The Art Suite includes classrooms for 2-D Art, and 3-D Art, complete with associated support spaces. The Music Suite includes space for Vocal Rehearsal and Band Rehearsal with associated Recording Studio’s, Ensemble Rooms, and Robe / Instrument Storage. The Renovated Gymnasium offers a new dynamic entrance lobby with space for Concessions, Public Toilets, Lockers, and Weight Training. The existing gymnasium and Wrestling room was fully renovated, with the Gymnasium receiving all new wood flooring and bleachers. The new Food Service building will feature 7,600 s.f. of seating area, with 5,000 s.f. of Serving and Kitchen area.

These new additions totaling 142,000 s.f. was completed in January 2001. The total construction cost was $17,750,000.
