CHILD CARE / PARTNERSHIP SCHOOL
For
GENERAL ELECTRIC NEUTRON DEVICES PLANT

Largo, Florida

This project was the first Pinellas County public school at a private company, which created a partnership between General Electric and Pinellas County Schools. GE provided the physical facility and security while Pinellas County Schools provided the teachers. The complex included a Child Care facility and Partnership School attached by a covered walk, with large exterior play areas divided by age groups. The child care facility consisted of five rooms for infants, three rooms for toddlers, and separate rooms for 2-3 and 3-4 year olds. The Partnership Facility consisted of four classrooms, a large multi-purpose room, and support spaces for administration and office functions.

Renker Eich Parks Architects was chosen for this project for their combined expertise in modular construction and design of educational facilities. This facility was designed and constructed so that it could be relocated if necessary. The two buildings consisted 15 modular units which were constructed at an off site factory and transported to the site for connection.

The building square footage was 15,000 S.F. with a construction cost of $958,000 in March 1990.
